Marc Chagall's "Pour Ida", 69-piece dinner service by Bernardaud

What does a father give his daughter on her wedding day? In 1952, Marc Chagall painted a complete dinner service for Ida. The illustrations resemble the artist's poetic, fabulous and often almost surreal pictures. And like Chagall's paintings, they are full of symbols. Thus, in addition to women in love and a marriage scene, we also find the famous Chagall goat, his allegory of femininity and the rooster, his allegory of masculinity. The circus scenes depict the harmonious coexistence of man and beast. Examination of the individual pieces makes it clear what Henry Miller meant when he described Chagall as: "a poet with the wings of a painter".
As a result, "Pour Ida" is not only a dinner service but an inspiring work of art, full of poetry and fantasy. It is nice to know that this masterpiece is now available as a re-edition. The porcelain painters of the famous Bernardaud manufactory have reproduced the 69-piece dinner service - completely by hand on the finest Limoges porcelain. This exceptional edition is limited to 225 sets.
