"Excess" glasses by Saint-Louis

„Excess“ is the name of this range that Hervé van der Straeten designed for Saint-Louis and which has, in the meantime, become a favourite centrepiece on the dining table in stylish homes. The French designer whose bronze furniture in fresh, innovative shapes caused a sensation on the market when it was first released, has now set new standards in the crystal glass industry too. The tall glasses (up to 27 cm), are by far the largest in the Saint-Louis collection, and their design is unique, too. From 1400-degree molten crystal a tulip shape is formed and enthroned on a magnificently complex stem. The stem is an inspired interpretation of the traditional Saint-Louis “diamond cut“: two diamond-like glass prisms, one on top of the other. Each glass is mouthblown and cut by master craftsmen at the manufactory.
