This technique dates back to the time of the Ancient Egyptians. Faience from Gien distinguishes itself from other porcelain manufacturers owing to its finesse and the variety of shapes and designs it offers.

A different floral motif adorns each piece of the "Garance" line by Gien. The design for "Garance" was the brainchild of Brigitte de Bazelaire, a ceramic artist from France.
