"Twist" glasses by Saint-Louis

Saint Louis’s crystal glass series "Twist" manages to dramatise light and optical effects in a way that is quite unique. As soon as wine is poured into the "Twist" glass, the "waves" disappear as if by magic. The reason for this is that the light is then reflected and refracted differently, while – at the same time – the exceptional colour nuances of each wine are brought to the fore. Each glass from the "Twist" series has a different wave design, individually conceived to highlight the liquid content at its best.

For wine connoisseurs, "Twist" from Saint-Louis has a special appeal, both owing to its impressive wave design and also the clear distinction between the glasses depending on the maturity of the wine. The wine glasses come in two different shapes: a glass for well-matured wine, in other words for wine that is over five years old and a glass for a young wine that is under five years old.

"Twist" from Saint-Louis was created in collaboration with Michel Bettane, a French wine critic and author. Bettane explains that the appearance of a wine plays a very important role during the tasting process. He is often disappointed at how a good wine comes across in a glass. Looking through the archives of Saint-Louis, Michel Bettane was impressed by the "Bartholdi" line because of it so-called wide "Venetian stripes". The "Venetian stripes" originate, as the name suggests, from an old art form used in Venetian glass-making, one demanding tremendous expertise of the glass blowers.
