Christofle’s small "Constellation" trinket containers bring together modern and traditional styles. The silverplated lid is, as is characteristic of the entire series, adorned with engraved cherry blossoms. The "Constellation" trinket containers, available in a variety of sizes and colours make themselves useful in the entrance hall or bathroom as a place to keep jewellery or other accessories.

Christofle teamed up with the Nendo design studio to create the "Constellation" collection. The main theme is cherry blossom, or sakura as it is known in Japan, one of the most important symbols of Japanese culture. This phenomenon inspired Nendo to engrave the cherry blossom motif in the precious metal of the “Constellation” collection. The flowers are connected in a single line, which makes them look like a star constellation. In order to highlight the details in silver, the blossom motif is set off within the frame of lacquered wood.

Christofle’s partner Nendo has received numerous awards since it opened its offices in Tokyo in 2002. Its chief designer Oki Sato was elected Designer of the Year at the 2016 Maison & Objet, a trade fair dedicated to interior design. The design studio works with numerous brand names, including, among others, Glas Italia, Cappellini, Panerai, Moroso.

History of the material
Completely lacquered wood has been regarded as a luxury material for many, many years: this material has an extremely long life. The wood used here is produced in Vietnam using long-established methods.

Handling tips
  • The wood should not be placed in an area where it is subject to constant sunshine
  • Rough or abrasive materials can create scratches in the wood.
  • Do not subject the wood to temperatures that are higher than 70° C.

Care instructions
  • Remove dust with a soft, dry or damp cloth
  • Clean with a clean and soft cloth in luke-warm water (not in a dishwasher), then dry immediately with a soft cloth.
  • Do not strip the material.
  • Endeavour to avoid spilling alcohol or other liquids onto the lacquered surface
