The "Cactus" perfume bottle from Lalique is not only decorative, it can perform useful tasks, such as holding perfume or bath salts. Opening and closing the bottle becomes a small celebration. Although the bottle is called "Cactus", it is nowhere near as prickly as its namesake. On the contrary, the spines are only hinted at and the matt, wavy surface structure feels very nice.
In 1926, the company founder René Lalique began to create sculptures and design objects out of crystal glass. Nowadays, the perfume bottles from Lalique are coveted collectors’ pieces, in part due to the fact that they all tell a story. With his creations, René Lalique succeeded in breathing poetry into glass, a material normally regarded as being somewhat frigid.
