A Passion for Italian Leather Craftsmanship

The Bagnara family has traded in selected household and decorative items since 1939. Surrounded by precious artefacts for the Italian lifestyle, the young Giorgio Bagnara developed a flair for the extraordinary at an early age. The leather craftsmanship of Genoese artisans ultimately inspired him to apply Italian leather craftsmanship to home accessories.

Giorgio founded the GioBagnara brand in 1999 and, together with his wife Vanessa, moved the design studio to a warehouse in the old port of Genoa. Since then, they have been exploring the limits of their craft in their joint laboratory of ideas and designing functional objects of timeless elegance.

GioBagnara extends the fascination for fine leather from Italian fashion to all objects in a home. The brand uses only fashion-quality leather from Italy's top tanneries to cover its sturdy wooden or metal structures with meticulous precision and care.

Since leather is a natural material, no two animal skins are ever the same. GioBagnara takes this into account and utilises these dynamic textures, tiny nuances, and subtle variations to give each leather item its own character and personality.

The Traditional Choice – Calfskin Leather

Soft, tear-resistant, and finely textured. By tradition, calfskin is the first choice of fashion designers – and of GioBagnara. Calfskin is available as napa leather or with various prints that individualise the look of the leather and make it even more scratch and water resistant.

Napa leather has retained its natural skin texture, the grain, throughout processing, making it buttery soft and supple. Wafer-thin coatings called finishes close the pores of the leather and provide a certain degree of protection against scratches and water.

Printed calfskin offers the optimal balance of aesthetics and function. During printing, a large stamp presses a new, permanent texture into the leather using heat and pressure. In addition to a customised look, printed leather can be more resistant to moisture and scratches, depending on the pattern.

The most popular print and our standard GioBagnara finish is "Golf". The fine texture is pleasant to the touch, looks organic and is particularly scratch and water resistant. On request, it is available in over 60 colours.

Leather with a Soft Shimmer – The Dynamic Textures of Suede

Irresistibly soft. Suede has a velvety, fuzzy texture that is a joy to touch. Its lustrous colours appear dynamically lighter and darker when you brush over it with your fingers. Just like the napa leather, GioBagnara's suede is also made from calfskin. Grippy and warm, suede invites you to caress it while lost in thought.
