The cutting-edge glaze alchemy of Jaune de Chrome

A paradigm shift in the porcelain world. Jaune de Chrome refines the renowned Limoges porcelain by J.L Coquet with a unique glazing technique developed in-house. The two manufactories have merged their expertise to jointly create dinnerware on a new level.

Jaune de Chrome uses neither printing techniques nor brush strokes to enhance the delicate dinnerware of their sister manufactory. Instead, expert artisans use innovative techniques and secret colour alchemy to create inimitable glaze effects. Amaze your guests with fine china unlike any they have ever seen before. Welcome to the world of Jaune de Chrome.

J.L Coquet and Jaune de Chrome – French excellence from Limoges

Limoges is synonymous with high-end porcelain. Capital of the Haute-Vienne department, the city and the region surrounding it have been one of the great centres of French porcelain craftsmanship since 1768. A short distance east of Limoges lies the small community of Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat. Here, the porcelain manufactory J.L Coquet has been cultivating its irreplaceable know-how since 1824. Almost two hundred years later, in the same village, a new manufactory has taken porcelain craftsmanship in a new direction – Jaune de Chrome.

Jaune de Chrome was created at the turn of the millennium to explore new glazing techniques for porcelain. Revered for its pure white colour, the porcelain from the nearby manufactory was the perfect stage for their new developments. The collaboration between J.L Coquet and Jaune de Chrome was born. The link between the two manufactories became so strong that they eventually merged. Today, they share the historic workshops of J.L Coquet and work hand in hand.

Just like J.L Coquet, Jaune de Chrome bears the label "Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant" (EPV) or "living heritage". This seal of quality is awarded by the French state to companies that embody French excellence with traditional craftsmanship.

Dinnerware by Jaune de Chrome is also entitled to bear the designation of origin "Porcelain from Limoges", in French " L'Identification Géographique 'Porcelaine de Limoges'". It guarantees that the porcelain is manufactured and decorated entirely in the manufactory in the Haute-Vienne department – 100% Made in France.

Modern Magic – The Amazing Glazes of Jaune de Chrome

Traditionally, porcelain is decorated in two ways, by hand with brushes or with special printing techniques. The glaze is usually created before decorating by submerging the raw porcelain pieces in a glaze bath and then firing it. The glaze serves first and foremost as a clear and shiny protective shield for the fine ceramics. But Jaune de Chrome breaks new ground and combines an ancient craft with the latest research.

Instead of dipping the porcelain blanks into a glaze bath, Jaune de Chrome uses spray guns and proprietary pigmented glazes. The artisans have to master unique spraying techniques that require months of practice and a lot of skill for each decoration. Every detail counts, from the distance to the workpiece to the meticulously measured amount of glaze that is being applied. The precious pigments only reveal their final colours, patterns and lustre inside the kiln at precisely controlled temperatures.

As a part of the glaze, the complex decorations are exceptionally stable and durable. Their unique textures give them the appearance of a natural patina. Since all manufacturing steps are done by hand, no piece is exactly like the other. Every plate, every bowl, every cup is unique with its own unreproducible peculiarities and details.

The fascinating décors of Jaune de Chrome and the renowned china patterns of J.L Coquet combine to create innovative dinnerware with a unique style and universal appeal. Whether Asian or Western cuisine, local or international dishes, traditional or modern presentation styles, surprise your guests with impactful food plating on dinnerware by Jaune de Chrome.
