Robbe & Berking - silversmithing excellence since 1874
Robbe & Berking – Silver in pure craftsmanship
Founded in Flensburg in 1874, the silversmith Robbe & Berking has become Germany's largest manufacturer of silver cutlery within five generations. Cutlery and accessories with the "R&B" hallmark are regarded as unsurpassed masterpieces by connoisseurs and enthusiasts across the world.
Many Robbe & Berking silverware objects have found their way into renowned museums as exhibition pieces. Among them is the "Alta" cutlery pattern designed by Wilfried Moll in 1982. The modern classic is exhibited in London's Victoria and Albert Museum as well as in New York's Museum of Modern Art.
Simple beauties
It is not often that uncompromisingness produces such blossoms as in the case of Robbe & Berking. Even Nicolaus Christoph Robbe, great-great-grandfather of the present owner, relied purely on craftsmanship when he founded the Flensburg silver manufactory in 1874. "Beauty comes without airs and graces" was one of his principles.
In his small, northern German workshop, he created unique silver cutlery that was to conquer Europe a short time later. His son-in-law, Robert Berking, was a highly talented silversmith who developed his own range of cutlery. It was largely through his work that Robbe & Berking became one of the most highly respected silver manufacturers in Europe.
Modern masterpieces
Now in its fifth generation, Robbe & Berking still works according to the principle of its great-great-grandfather. "Others may do it cheaper, but no one may do it better than we do." All the silver and silverplated cutlery and accessories from the manufactory are made exclusively in the company's own workshops in Flensburg. Due to this dedication, Robbe & Berking stands as a seal of quality for uncompromising quality.
In addition, the Flensburg-based manufacturer has also made a name for itself on the design scene with its designs. The "Alta" cutlery has won numerous design awards and is at home in the world's most renowned museums.
Countless hammer strokes adorn the multiple award-winning "Martelé" cutlery. Each piece is unique with a finely structured surface that reflects the light in a thousand directions.
