As a lover of the Hellenic world, Olivier Gagnère designed the "Ikaria" vases for Bernardaud, named after a small island in the Aegean Sea, near which Icarus is said to have fallen into the sea after getting too close to the sun. A vase collection that pays homage to the aesthetics of ancient Greece: Its white porcelain body with matt finish is reminiscent of the fluting of temple columns and its neck of the capitals that adorn their tops.
The timeless aesthetics and universal colours of the "Ikaria" vases by Bernardaud allow them to shine in any type of interior, from graphic and simple to classic and richly decorated. Their round, relatively narrow neck will easily hold a round bouquet. However, their perfectly proportioned architectural lines make them self-sufficient: with or without flowers, they decorate tables, consoles and sideboards to great effect.
