The "Malmaison" picture frame by Christofle is a superb example of French silverwork and has an almost imperial air. A distinctive feature of the silverplated "Malmaison" picture frame is the strictly geometric palm border. Palm branches are regarded as a speciality of the French Empire Style which was all the rage during the time of Napoleon at the beginning of the nineteenth century. The silverplated frames are suitable for both portrait and landscape photos.
The new edition of Christofle's picture frames has a black lacquered wooden back lined with felt. The picture frames are easy to open and close thanks to a pivoting latch made of lustrous Zamak alloy and embossed with the Christofle coat of arms. Safely packaged in an antioxidant pouch and presented in an exclusive Christofle gift box, these frames make exquisite gifts for special occasions.
"Malmaison" takes its name from a castle that Napoleon and his first wife Joséphine de Beauharnais used as their country home for a while. As part of the renowned "Malmaison" collection, the picture frame is crafted by hand and plated with silver by the traditional French manufacturer.
