The matte feather texture of the crystal glass vase is polished by hand several times to enhance its unique play of light. The green variant has a neon-like glow that it owes to the rare earth praseodymium oxide. The rare earth causes the molten glass to cool quickly – a technical challenge for Lalique's master craftsmen. The large version of the "Plumes" vases is 26.5 cm (approx. 10.4 in) high.
