A single letter containing five rectangles and his signature was all Adolf Loos needed to send to the Viennese house of Lobmeyr in 1931 to set the design process of the No. 248 “Loos” glassware collection in motion. The brief was unmistakably clear: right angles, straight lines, and not a single unnecessary detail. To this day, the service remains compelling in its uncompromising modernity, drawing its strength from reduction, precision, and Lobmeyr’s exceptional glassmaking expertise.
The bases of the cylindrical tumblers are first ground perfectly flat before being finished by hand with a matt diamond cut. Complex reflections transform the rectilinear pattern into a geometric spectacle, filling the ultra-thin crystal glasses with light and motion. Rising above the bar glasses is the decanter, whose circular handle carries the same signature cut and catches the light with a brilliant, beacon-like sparkle.

Hand washing with a small amount of dishwashing detergent and warm water is recommended. Rinse thoroughly afterwards to ensure that no soap residue remains.
Care should be taken when drying due to the delicate material. Under no circumstances should the tea towel be stuffed into the chalice; despite its elasticity, this can cause breakage. Glasses decorated with enamel paint should not be cleaned in the dishwasher.
If using a dishwasher, select a special glass program and the recommended amount of detergent. Ensure that the items do not touch each other and that steam can escape after the program has finished.
