Porcelain Excellence from France – Limoges Porcelain by Raynaud

Incomparably delicate, brilliantly white, translucent, and durable – Limoges porcelain is world-renowned for its outstanding quality. The small French town rose to fame after the main ingredient for porcelain, kaolin, was discovered outside its city walls at the end of the 18th century. The kaolin found near Limoges, a mineral also known as porcelain clay, proved to be exceptionally pure and continues to give the region’s porcelain its radiant white colour. To carry the legacy of their homeland into the future, the porcelain manufacturers of Limoges are united in their pursuit of excellence, proudly producing hard-paste porcelain using traditional techniques to the highest standards.

Raynaud refines its homeland’s pure porcelain with incredibly detailed and sophisticated decorations. The manufactory primarily uses the technique of chromolithography, in which the designs are pre-printed on carrier films and then hand-applied to each piece. Experienced artisans position the films on the porcelain surfaces with the utmost precision before permanently fusing the decorations onto the pieces in the smouldering heat of the kiln.

Raynaud’s irreplaceable expertise is officially recognised by the French state. Since 2006, the manufactory has held the “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant” label, awarded to companies that embody French excellence through their craftsmanship. Since 2018, Raynaud porcelain also carries the official designation of origin “Porcelaine de Limoges”. This guarantees that Raynaud porcelain is entirely produced and decorated in the Haute-Vienne department according to strict criteria – 100% Made in France.
