The quintessence of Murano glass. The "A Canne" jug is a re-edition of a design that the legendary designer Gio Ponti created for Venini in 1946 for the 1952 Venice Biennale. The six glass colours grey, red, sapphire, green, straw yellow, and amethyst combine on the jug's simple and elegant silhouette to form a kaleidoscopic striped pattern that is slightly different on each individual piece.
The eye-catching striped decoration is created using the Canne technique, a traditional technique for which Murano has been famous since the Middle Ages. The glassblowers first produce coloured glass rods, which they then bundle, melt, and finally blow into shape with meticulous accuracy. Each glass object that is created this way is completely unique with complex shapes and patterns that reflect the skills of Venini's glassblowers.
