The quintessence of Murano glass. The "A Canne" glasses are a re-edition of designs that the legendary designer Gio Ponti created for Venini in 1946 for the 1952 Venice Biennale. On the simple silhouettes of the large and small cups, jugs and vases, the six glass colours grey, red, sapphire, green, straw yellow, and amethyst combine to form a kaleidoscopic striped pattern, which is slightly different on each individual piece.
The eye-catching striped decoration is created using the Canne technique, a traditional technique for which Murano has been famous since the Middle Ages. The glassblowers first produce coloured glass rods, which they then bundle, melt, and finally blow into shapes with meticulous accuracy. Each glass is a unique piece with complex shapes and patterns that reflect the skills of Venini's glassblowers.
The Venini glass manufactory has been creating artistic and functional Murano glass objects since 1921. The sophisticated designs and high levels of craftsmanship have inspired a global audience for generations. Made purely by hand on the island of Murano in the Venetian lagoon, each Venini glass object is a unique expression of Italian excellence.
