"L'âme d'Or" dinner spoon, stainless steel, colour gold by Christofle

Almost ten years after the launch of the iconic "L’âme de Christofle" collection, Christofle is inviting us on a colorful journey with three new colours: gold, copper and black. These new colours have a polished-shiny finish, as the original "L’âme de Christofle" stainless steel flatware line. The respective colour is achieved by applying a coloured metal alloy to the surface - a so-called PVD coating. This process enhances the pure lines of the flatware and adds a dash of modernity to the finest tables.

PVD stands for "Physical Vapor Deposition". This means that a layer of coloured metal (a mix of titanium, chromium and zircon) is applied on the stainless steel flatware. The resistance of the "L’âme de Christofle" PVD cutlery was tested for several months by Christofle, with intensive use (at least 2 washes per day in a professional dishwasher). The coating has not undergone any alteration following these tests. Only traces of water can appear on the flatware: this is due to poor evaporation of the water vapor from the machine. In this case, a simple use of a soft, dry cloth is enough to remove these traces.

The "L'âme de Christofle" cutlery is characterized by utmost simplicity and elegance, making it a timeless classic among the cutlery series by Christofle. The design for this modern classic was created by the Catalan designer Eugeni Quitllet. A particular eye-catcher is the sharply contoured knife. The knife is so nice to hold that it becomes almost an extension of his hand.
