"Pivoines Bleues" from Gien is made completely by hand using the finest French faience and an elaborate painting process. Gien faience differs from porcelain not only in terms of the materials used, but also in the off-white base colour. Faience is a fine, porous earthenware which is tin-glazed and then fired repeatedly.
"Pivoines Bleues" from Gien shows a peony motif in wonderful blue colours. The design takes its inspiration from Japanese porcelain art. You can buy the hand-painted "Pivoines Bleues" from Gien either in the form of a complete dinner service or as individual collectors’ pieces.
