"Vues d'Orient" by Gien invites you to an exotic and nostalgic journey to a faraway place in the east. The design "Vues d'Orient" was first produced in the 1870s and received a gold medal and an honorary diploma at the 1876 World Exhibition in Philadelphia. It reflects the fashionable Orientalism trend of the time. Gien now presents updated variations of the theme "Vues d'Orient" in shades of green.
Faience is a fine, porous earthenware which is tin-glazed and then fired repeatedly. This thousand-year-old art of porcelain manufacture has been used by Gien since 1821. Faience is a vibrant, natural, sensual and shining substance, an ideal medium for a wide range of radiant colours.
