This "Arkadia" dinner service from KPM was designed by Trude Petri in 1938 to mark the 175th anniversary of the famous Berlin manufacturer.
Each piece of the dinner service bears a medallion of unglazed porcelain (bisque porcelain), portraying the utopian vision of Arcadia.
Arcadia, an area in the Greek Peleponnes, was the inspiration for the Hellenic and Roman tales of this pastoral paradise. Demeter, Cupid and Pan are portrayed individually on the various pieces.

KPM- the Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin - stands for unique porcelain and stylish design of the highest level. The manufactory's skilled handicraft, developed over generations, continues to be carried out at the original location.

In 1763, the legendary Prussian king, Frederick the Great, gave the company its name and emblem. The royal blue sceptre has become a symbol of the standard and quality of each masterpiece leaving the manufactory.
