Special offer: We now offer the "Calder" set of 6 dinner plates by Bernardaud with a special 20% discount on the original price. Unfortunately this product is discontinued.

In homage to the American artist Alexander Calder (1898 – 1976), the French porcelain manufacturer Bernardaud has brought out this six-piece set of "Calder" plates. The edition is limited to 3,000 pieces. The limited collection is the result of a close exchange of ideas with the Calder Foundation. Six different mobiles that Alexander Calder created in the 1940s and 1950s were selected for the design. The result: modern dinner plates of the finest Limoges porcelain from Bernardaud depicting mobiles in red and black.

Alexander Calder studied and worked in France for many years. He developed a great affinity for his second home. He made his name with his impressive mobiles. The perfectly balanced constructions move even in the lightest gust of wind. They are made of metal elements, rods, thread and wire. Despite their size, the abstract and moveable rotating sculptures exude a playful lightness and poetry.

Cleaning:
You can clean your porcelain by hand using a soft sponge and mild dishwashing liquid. However, be careful not to use the abrasive side of the sponge, as it may scratch or damage the surface of the decorations, especially gold or platinum.

Your porcelain is also perfectly safe for the dishwasher. Choose a low-temperature cycle and do not exceed the recommended amount of detergent. If you do not wash the porcelain immediately (by hand or in the dishwasher), we recommend rinsing it with warm water. Make sure that the pieces do not touch each other in the dishwasher.

Microwave:
Pieces without gold, silver, or platinum decoration: microwave safe.
Pieces with gold, silver, or platinum decoration: not suitable for the microwave, as Bernardaud uses a high percentage of precious metals in these designs.

"Balance-Akte: Alexander Calder schuf mit seiner kinetischen Kunst perfekt ausbalancierte Konstruktionen. Seine poetischen Mobiles faszinieren und inspirieren bis heute. So legte die Porzellan Manufaktur Bernardaud das Essteller-Set Calder mit sechs Motiven seiner Mobiles aus den 40er und 50er Jahren auf."
