The "Mer de Corail" centrepiece by Daum weighs 9.3 kg and is 71 cm long and is an impressive decorative object in wonderful shades of blue. Each centerpiece is crafted by hand at the French manufactory Daum using a single crystal glass paste (pâte de verre) and is thus absolutely unique. Crystal-glass paste is made of a complex blend of crystal and lead granulate. The mixture can be kneaded like wax in the hands of the skilled glass artists. The result is exceptional shapes, a wonderful interplay of colours and contours that flow into one another. Little air bubbles captured in the glass are evidence of this special manufacturing process.
