The "Halle" vases from KPM Berlin, made of white porcelain have written design history.
When they came out in the 1930s, these creations caused a sensation. They were conceived by Marguerite Friedlaender, an artist and Master Potter from the Weimar Bauhaus.
What was novel about the vase was that there was no decoration at all; it was completely monochrome.
Plain white porcelain, which until then had only been used for industrial purposes, reflected the minimalistic style of the so-called "New Objectivity" pursued by the Bauhaus movement.
What is also typical of the Bauhaus period are the geometric, oval and conical shapes that define the overall contours of the vase.
