  • Murano glass, handcrafted
Finnish designer Timo Sarpaneva designed these colourful "Kukinto" vases for Venini. His works are exhibited at international art museums, such as the Metropolitan Museum in New York. The artist chose the name "Kukinto". It is the Finnish word for fluorescence, and the bright vases really do make you think of colourful blossoms.

During the production of the "Kukinto" vases glass strips of varying colours are fused together. The video from Venini impressively shows how much expert work goes into the production of a 5-6 kg "Kukinto" vase. The 40-47 cm high vases make striking ornaments.

The company Venini was founded in 1921 on Murano, one of the group of islands near Venice. Murano glass and the Venini brand are now internationally renowned not just among glass-lovers. Glass artworks from Venini are on show at many art museums throughout the world.
