  • Murano glass, handcrafted
The process with which the "Murrine Romane" bowl and vase from Venini are produced is based on a very old technique originally used by the Romans. This technique is called "Murrine" and involves coloured glass rods being melted together. The glass rods are then sliced into cross-sections of the desired size. The glass pieces are then put together again and melted.

The "Murrine Romane" bowl and vase from Venini take their inspiration from the colourful and geometric glass objects produced in ancient times by the Romans. The design is the work of the Italian architect and artist Carlo Scarpa from 1940. From 1932, he began a long-term cooperation with the Italian Murano glass manufacturer Venini. Carlo Scarpa developed decisive new techniques and production processes for Venini. From 1932 to 1946, it was predominantly his influence that steered the style of Venini.
