Palm by Michael Aram
For the design of his "Palm" collection, Michael Aram once again took his inspiration from nature. This time the inspiration was a windswept palm branch that had fallen to the ground and which caught the designer’s imagination when he was out to lunch with friends. The American designer manufactures his art objects in India using age-old metal crafting skills. The designer’s preferred medium is metal. It is a material that has held a special magic for him ever since he discovered the rich metal-working traditions of India which encouraged him to make New Delhi his home.
All of the products in the "Palm" collection are as artistic as they are decorative. Each piece is made by hand and is thus absolutely unique. It is intentional that the welding and soldering joints are visible, and they give the Michael Aram product its unique look. A special highlight of the collection is the "Palm" candleholders. The approximately 50cm high "Palm" candleholder is a detailed reproduction of their larger counterparts in nature. The golden palms are presented on a white marble base, which produces an even more imposing effect.
