About glassware by Theresienthal
Wine glasses from which kings have sipped, and carafes that have been tilted by tsars: the air of an aristocratic drinking culture pervades the entire oeuvre of the legendary glass blowers from Theresienthal. For more than 170 years, the glasses from the German crystal glass manufacturer have not only been a source of amazement to royal households with their wafer-thin glass, fascinating colours and impressive lustre.
The classic series of crystal glass include for instance goblets for wine and sparkling wine, wine glasses, water tumblers and Champagne flutes. Discover the colourful sets of precious, hand-cut glasses and carafes or the magnificent glasses in the "Glasgow" series, available in original colours, such as fuchsia, lime or blue. The famous gold Minton rim and the star engraved on the base also make these glasses unmistakeably chic.
Quite often, when making the Theresienthal glasses, the intricate overlay (casing) technique is used. Two fine layers of crystal glass are laid on top of one another: one coloured and the other transparent. This produces enchanting results for the glass tumblers and carafes. These sometimes reflect the clear lines of Art Deco and sometime play with medieval styles; however, they are always perfectly handcrafted. Each glass is a unique, mouth-blown piece.
