Black Fluted Mega by Royal Copenhagen

Stylized black flowers on bright white porcelain: The "Black Fluted Mega" dinnerware by Royal Copenhagen looks elegant yet a little rebellious, modern yet familiar. The hand-painted tableware tells a piece of porcelain history.

The monochrome "Black Fluted Mega" is the reinterpretation of a classic: The design "Blue Bluted" originally dates from 1770 and was the first pattern with which the Danish porcelain manufacturer Royal Copenhagen began production in 1775.

In 2000, the designer Karen Kjaeldgard-Larsen created a new variant of the traditional pattern with "Blue Fluted Mega": the hand-painted floral decorations were greatly enlarged and reproduced in fragments. In 2006 Royal Copenhagen launched the modified classic in a striking black-and-white contrast - and shows how far you can go in interpreting a classic without losing its essence.
