Polite Silver by Hering Berlin

For over a decade Hering Berlin has continued to surprise us with innovative and attractive porcelain creations. The designers from the Berlin manufactory know how to take traditional material and find ever new designs. “Polite” is a dinner service made of delicate white porcelain, decorated with a broad silver rim and a fine iron-red line.

What is more: The silver decoration used by Stefanie Hering is real silver which is burnt into the porcelain at a temperature of 880°C. Real silver naturally reacts to the hydrogen sulphide in the air and tarnishes after a while. To maintain the matt glamour of the silver, it is therefore necessary to clean the silver décor from time to time.

Cleaning:
Bisque porcelain is dishwasher safe. Remove stubborn residue by soaking in soapy water and cleaning with the scouring pad of a sponge. Use abrasive cleaners only on unglazed surfaces.

For bisque porcelain with precious metal decoration hand washing is recommended, but some decorations are suitable for the dishwasher. Use a soft sponge and mild detergent, not the abrasive side. When using a dishwasher, select a low-temperature program and the recommended amount of detergent. Ensure that the pieces do not touch each other and that steam can escape after the program has finished.

Avoid temperature shocks. To avoid friction when stacking, we recommend using intermediate layers (e.g. "Artedona" plate dividers).

Microwave:
Pieces without gold, silver or platinum decoration: microwave safe.
Pieces with gold, silver or platinum decoration: not suitable for microwave use due to high precious metal content.
