When designer Rudolf Eschler developed in 1934 the glasses and carafe for Moser’s "Bar" collection, he must have been very impressed by the Alps and the towering mountains: the shapes of the items are so reminiscent of rocky spurs and sheer cliff faces.
The glasses in Moser’s "Bar" series have heavy bases and an angular cut which gradually softens towards the mouth of the glass. The Cubist cut of the base of the corresponding carafe is picked up and reflected in its stopper – practically shaped for a particularly good grip.
The different, intensively illuminating colours of the glasses and carafe of Moser’s "Bar" series underpin the spectacular effect created by the cut — both the cut and colour are examples of the highest level of crystal-glass artistry: and indeed the "Bar" glasses and carafe are mouth-blown and then skilfully shaped and polished by hand in the renowned, crystal-glass workshops of the Moser factory in the Czech Republic.
