"Thistle Gold" pitcher by Saint-Louis

As is typical for Art Nouveau, an object from nature inspired this elegant "Thistle Gold" pitcher from Saint-Louis. The thistle with its sun-shaped petal head and prickly leaves provided the idea for the gold decoration and the artistic engraving on the "Thistle Gold" glassware. The design is from 1913 and is one of the most classic and precious lines from the Saint-Louis crystal glass manufactory.

The pitcher is mouth-blown and cut by hand. The 24-carat gold ornamentation is applied with a brush and then polished with an agate stone. The technique demands tremendous skill. With such an enchanting piece, it is almost surprising that water served in the "Thistle Gold" pitcher from Saint-Louis does not turn into wine...

It is recommended to clean by hand with a soft sponge and mild dish soap. Place glasses on a paper towel, allow to drip dry, and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.

Do not put products with gold or platinum decorations in the dishwasher, do not use white vinegar and dry thoroughly; do not use abrasive materials, bleach, or rubber.

Clean carafes and pitchers with lukewarm water; do not allow wine to stand. To remove tannin or limescale deposits, use equal parts white vinegar and lukewarm water. Place a paper towel in the neck to dry.

Pre-warm tea glasses and pre-chill ice buckets to avoid temperature shock.

Important note for candle holders: To avoid thermal shock, change the candle when the flame is 6cm away from the crystal. It is recommended to use a candle snuffer.
