Cool, strong and impressive: it is easy to imagine the silverplated "Transat" bowl from Ercuis in the first-class cabins of a luxury liner in the 1930s or 1940s. In fact, the Parisian silversmith Ercuis actually took its inspiration from this period in its own history when designing the "Transat" line. The result is far from being a museum piece however.
The shape and engraving are contemporary, stylish and of a high quality. About two thirds of the curved exterior surface of the "Transat" bowl from Ercuis is finely grooved, which underlines the strict design of the silverplated bowl. Around the base and inside the bowl, there are no embellishments or engravings.
The understated appearance of the "Transat" bowl from Ercuis seems almost like a profession to good design cast in metal.
