The classic ashtray of matt polished stainless steel is a design by Arne Jacobsen from the year 1967 for Stelton and it has been combating the effects of the blue haze since well before the era of anti-non-smoker campaigns.

Conceived from the basic geometric shapes of a cylinder and a hemisphere, this designer article from manufacturer Stelton “swallows up” cigarette ash; a highly practical rotational movement makes it disappear completely, and then the ashtray closes again sealing away any unpleasant smells.
