It is possible that Napoleon Bonaparte and his first wife Josephine enjoyed their coffee served in a cup from the Christofle "Malmaison" coffee and tea service. The idea for the "Malmaison" range was at any rate inspired by the French Empire Style of the early nineteenth century. Christofle addresses the aesthetic tastes of the Napoleon era with this series and picks out popular motifs from that period. The stylised palm leaves and lotus blossom lend the tea service an almost majestic allure.
The silverplated "Malmaison" coffee pot and teapot are well insulated. This means that while the handles do not burn your hands, the tea and coffee stay hot for a long time.
