The “Tommy“ south wine tumblers crown a top-class meal. Skilled handcraftsmanship has achieved a result which means the coloured crystal sparkle like diamonds. Designed in 1928, these small glasses are part of the “Tommy” collection, one of the most important and famous glassware ranges of the Saint-Louis Cristallerie. Three of the intricate techniques of the manufacturer are necessary to produce one glass: facet cut, ball cut and diamond cut. This classic design made its historical “coming out” during a dinner which took place in 1938. On the occasion of a visit by King George VI, each guest in the mirrored dining room of Versailles Palace sat down at a place-setting which included eleven glasses from the “Tommy” glassware. Each of these glasses is still being produced with the same skill and attention to detail at France’s oldest glass manufacturer. Each glass is mouthblown and hand-cut and polished. It is recommended to clean by hand with a soft sponge and mild dish soap. Place glasses on a paper towel, allow to drip dry, and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.
Do not put products with gold or platinum decorations in the dishwasher, do not use white vinegar and dry thoroughly; do not use abrasive materials, bleach, or rubber.
Clean carafes and pitchers with lukewarm water; do not allow wine to stand. To remove tannin or limescale deposits, use equal parts white vinegar and lukewarm water. Place a paper towel in the neck to dry.
Pre-warm tea glasses and pre-chill ice buckets to avoid temperature shock.
Important note for candle holders: To avoid thermal shock, change the candle when the flame is 6cm away from the crystal. It is recommended to use a candle snuffer.
"In den puristischen Zeiten war sie verschwunden. Jetzt ist die offene Hausbar wieder da! Und sehr retro-chic. Wie gut, dass sie sich so wunderbar leicht improvisieren lässt. Die Basis bildet ein antikes Silbertablett, auf dem unterschiedlich hohe Gläser und Karaffen angeordnet werden."
