"Tommy" south wine tumblers by Saint-Louis

The “Tommy“ south wine tumblers crown a top-class meal. Skilled handcraftsmanship has achieved a result which means the coloured crystal sparkle like diamonds. Designed in 1928, these small glasses are part of the “Tommy” collection, one of the most important and famous glassware ranges of the Saint-Louis Cristallerie. Three of the intricate techniques of the manufacturer are necessary to produce one glass: facet cut, ball cut and diamond cut. This classic design made its historical “coming out” during a dinner which took place in 1938. On the occasion of a visit by King George VI, each guest in the mirrored dining room of Versailles Palace sat down at a place-setting which included eleven glasses from the “Tommy” glassware. Each of these glasses is still being produced with the same skill and attention to detail at France’s oldest glass manufacturer. Each glass is mouthblown and hand-cut and polished.
