"Schliersee" double old fashioned tumblers by Theresienthal

The classic animal motifs decorate the colourful "Schliersee" whiskey tumblers by Theresienthal. Deer, wild ducks, foxes, pheasants and capercaillie cocks represent the typical fauna of the picturesque "Schliersee" lake in Bavaria.

The technique used for the "Schliersee" crystal tumblers by Theresienthal is an overlay technique. A glass "cased" in this way consists of two or more glass layers melted on top of each other. The "Schliersee" tumblers have an exterior, thinner layer of coloured glass over a thicker, transparent layer. When the engraver cuts the motifs, the transparent layer of glass is revealed thus giving the glass its relief-like appearance. This fine engraving is what makes the crystal glass so precious.

All of Theresienthal's glasses are completed handcrafted, from the time the glassblower starts and until they receive their final polish. Each glass is mouth blown and thus unique. Fine air bubbles - entrapped in the glass – are witness to the manual production and underline the individual character of the crystal glass.

Please avoid heating your glasses above 50°C and exposing them to abrupt temperature changes, such as by adding ice cubes to sun-warmed glasses or pouring hot tea into cold glasses. High temperatures and rapid changes create stresses that can lead to breakage – sometimes only later.

Glasses with paintings, gilding, or platinum plating must never be placed in the dishwasher, as precious metals and enamel colors can be damaged or washed out.

Plain glasses as well as cut or engraved glasses may be cleaned in the dishwasher, but only below 50°C and without harsh detergents. However, hand wash is recommended, as dishwashers can dissolve glass components and cause the surface to become cloudy over time.

It is best to use a pure linen cloth for drying and polishing.

For candle holders: to avoid thermal shock, change the candle before the flame is 3 cm away from the crystal.
