The goblets of these hock glasses gleam in their wonderful colours. They can be used as wine or water glasses. The spectacular ensemble is part of the “Tommy” line by Saint-Louis. Three of the company’s famous techniques have to be used to produce the “Tommy” series: facet cutting, ball cutting and diamond cutting. The attention given to detail in the cutting process is what makes this classic line from the year 1928 into one of the most coveted creations in crystal glass craftsmanship. The reputation of this best-seller is based on a legendary dinner in the year 1938 held in the Hall of Mirrors in the Chateau de Versailles on the occasion of a visit by King George VI; each of the places at the table for guests was set with eleven glasses from the “Tommy” series. The production of these glasses still goes on today and each glass takes ten days to make; ten glassblowers are needed to create the shape and five cutters are required to complete the decoration.

It is recommended to clean by hand with a soft sponge and mild dish soap. Place glasses on a paper towel, allow to drip dry, and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.

Do not put products with gold or platinum decorations in the dishwasher, do not use white vinegar and dry thoroughly; do not use abrasive materials, bleach, or rubber.

Clean carafes and pitchers with lukewarm water; do not allow wine to stand. To remove tannin or limescale deposits, use equal parts white vinegar and lukewarm water. Place a paper towel in the neck to dry.

Pre-warm tea glasses and pre-chill ice buckets to avoid temperature shock.

Important note for candle holders: To avoid thermal shock, change the candle when the flame is 6cm away from the crystal. It is recommended to use a candle snuffer.

Elle Decoration
07/2013

"In den puristischen Zeiten war sie verschwunden. Jetzt ist die offene Hausbar wieder da! Und sehr retro-chic. Wie gut, dass sie sich so wunderbar leicht improvisieren lässt. Die Basis bildet ein antikes Silbertablett, auf dem unterschiedlich hohe Gläser und Karaffen angeordnet werden."
