About Gien Prestige
The “Prestige" pieces of the French faience manufacturer are completely hand-painted. Faience is a fine, porous earthenware which is tin-glazed and then fired repeatedly. The sophisticated refinement of the resulting faience is what distinguishes it from other kinds of ceramic. Numerous work steps are necessary to produce a Gien Prestige piece.
We have put together a selection from the Gien Prestige collection. Some of the hand-painted plates, bowls and vases are only produced in a limited edition and are signed with the initials of the painter. “Pivoines” and "Pivoines Bleues” are among Gien's instantly recognisable “hallmark products”. Beautifully hand-painted peony motifs adorn the exclusive dinner service. Equally well-known is Gien’s prestige line “Vincennes Or”. The gold refinement on the decorative vases of “Vincennes Or” has made them into popular collectors’ items.
