Our range in this category comprises salt and pepper shakers, salt and pepper mills, oil and vinegar carafes as well as a sugar and salt bar from renowned manufacturers that include Christofle, Robbe & Berking as well as Ercuis.
Salt & pepper are not just any kind of condiment: they are the two condiments that are essential for every meal and a very individual expression of taste. Thus, salt & pepper should be present on every table.
The two “Pave Sphere” ball-shaped shakers from L'Objet, which are gold- or platinum-plated and lavishly adorned with Swarovski crystals, are more like luxurious jewellery than containers for salt & pepper. In a similar way, the gold-plated "Pear" salt & pepper shakers from Michael Aram could easily be mistaken for the dessert. They are shaped like small, crunchy pears – but are actually made of gilded bronze.
Silver and crystal are also quite common in this area: playing such an important part on a nicely set table, it is not surprising that almost all designers plate the functional containers in precious materials. Christofle and Ercuis offer a whole range of silverplated salt and pepper shakers as well as salt and pepper mills. Other designers focus on producing the eye-catching shapes: Swiss architect Peter Zumthor, for example, designed a pepper mill for Officina di Alessi that is a tribute to the architecture of the Valais canton in Switzerland.
It is also hard to imagine a perfectly set table without oil & vinegar sets on festive "salad occasions". The “Ring” oil & vinegar cruets from the legendary Paris silversmith Ercuis have been crystal cut for their task and are securely supported in a silverplated stand. Other oil & vinegar carafes can be placed more freely on the table. However, regardless whether in classic style or with an ultra-modern look, cruets for salt & pepper as well as oil & vinegar always need to be chosen to match the relevant dinner service or occasion. How good that there is such a large selection of both in our collection.
