Unassuming and yet highly elegant is the way to describe the cream-coloured “Edme” service by Wedgwood, and it has a most interesting story to tell.
It was commissioned by the French architect and designer Dannier Frères and was designed in 1906 by the Wedgwood Art Director at that time John Goodwin. The structure of the service is reminiscent of the ribbed ornamentation in widespread use in architecture of that time, and thanks to which it still appears today as contemporary and modern as it was in the Art-déco period.

The service was manufactured as Queen's Ware, a fine, cream-coloured pottery developed by Josiah Wedgwood in the mid 18th century.
